Theoretical expectation: This part encodes the native Glucoamylase (glaA) found in A. niger.
Functionality: Glucoamylase is an enzyme that hydrolyzes the terminal 1 -> 4 linked alpha-D-glucose from the non-reducing end of starch.
Results: Below is a picture showing A. niger grown on starch plates with subsequent addition of iodine yielding no colouring zones showing breakdown of starch.
